Girl meets world maya backstory

This week's Girl Meets World shifted the focus to Maya While her art show storyline was strong, the introduction of Maya's mom Katy vibed like a ripoff of Chet Hunter's debut in Boy Meets World. That's not to mention Katy's blatant, Chet-like characterization. Meanwhile, the return of Stuart Minkus was a standout moment here, as was his continued rivalry with Topanga. Girl Meets World.

Girl Meets World aired their series finale last night. Cannot wait to see how they do that! The episode starts off with Maya asking Riley if Topanga has made a decision about taking a job in London meaning the entire family will move away from New York City. UGH these kids better not be Millennials. When were these children born?

They better be in a different generation! Ugh, crap. Apparently Millennials were born all the way until So Topanga assembles everyone important to her to bounce around some ideas. Also, Mr. This episode super sucks. Oh wait, jk. He literally just walked through the door. The only cool thing is you get to see Feeny and Eric talk.

Uh, sorry Topanga. A kid just gained a dad today, you jerk. They tag-team out mid conversation. This is weird. They all say they hope to get to keep being themselves and blah blah blah. Oh, whoops, guess what! Is this a trope? How many other shows have done this? Like seriously, there are like 5 kids in this class who ever cared about the move and the other 12 kids must be so pissed. If my kid had a teacher who taught around 5 kids, I would be calling the PTA like crazy.

Cory must be really taking advantage of tenure. Now, THAT was a good finale. By the way OG Josh is a lot older than replacement Josh. They like definitely aged that character down. So yep, good riddance. Riley and the front-desk guy Evan are still talking on the window seat bench as the sunrises. Wait what?? They too have stayed up all night talking. Probably more like covertly whispering as they eavesdropped on their kid and her new friend.

And Topanga basically says it was great and now she likes Cory more. Is it a big deal? This has got to be the worst way to grow up. This kid never gets to try anything on her own without her parents lurking about with some heavy handed lesson.

What is your problem, Cory? Amy and Alan never did you like this! But let me say something positive for once. The girl who plays Maya is hilarious. Maya tries to talk Lucas out of his funk, encouraging him not to give Riley such a hard time.

Riley sees them chatting and notices some chemistry. She decides to talk with her Uncle Josh about the situation. Then they have this meandering conversation about how Maya has given up herself to become like Riley because she loves Riley so much?

Or like wants to feel protected? Or is having a hard time? I like to think of myself as a fairly intelligent person, but I had so much trouble following this. So she probably has a weird sense of identity right now and will grow out of it like we all do.

One of my major complaints with this show is that these characters straight up do not talk like real people. It seems that Maya and Riley have this realization at the same time, so they head over to the window seat to chat about it. Woah, okay. So many bad boundaries here.

Oh yeah…I guess the kind of parents who spy on their children are probably not the best teachers of healthy relationships. He urges them not to play, but for once these virtuous children do not listen to him. This is getting more interesting. They grab the book from him and realize it is the exact same book that Cory knows.

Evan was making up the questions. This dude a creep in my opinion. All of these kids should head back home to the city ASAP. Okay, Josh is actually a cool guy. So Maya kind of gets it now. She like kind of got it earlier with Riley but now she understands exactly what she was doing. Ugh, I guess.

Maya also says that she loves Riley and would never want anything that she wanted. Either way, I guess she is maturing. Time out. I know. And Josh is only 17?

And Maya is like 15? Why did they bring a 17 year old boy to chaperone a 15 year old girl? I thought he was like in college or something. Or did they advance his age or something? So then Lucas asks Riley out, finally. He also gives her a jelly bean in a ring box. It means something to them, I guess.

Omg then Riley gives him that damn leaf that floated in through the window. But also she asks him to think of buying a sandwich for her when he buys a sandwich for himself. Cut to: creepy Evan thinking he made all of this happen. Or like the character she played, rather. Calm the eff down and stop taking yourselves so seriously. Go hang out on St. But whatever. Lucas suggests that they all imagine what their lives would be like together.

But then a cute guy comes in to work the night shift at the front desk. They drink hot cocoa and he seems like a romantic too. To be continued…. Why is this even a thing??

But this post also has a very special guest star! My boyfriend, who so kindly critiqued this episode with me has allowed me to share his snarky thoughts as well. She does seem useless. At least little Cory liked baseball.

A nun tells her that no one is perfect and no one even comes close to the most perfect person she knows. I thought she was talking about God, but then out walks Topanga—who has just saved their orphanage. Naturally, the only thing for Riley to do is imagine herself in the stories her parents tell her. And it consists of Riley observing her parents in two scenes. But her mom is still perfect. Until the next memory, the infamous O-zone layer poem scene, in which she and Riley determine that Topanga is even more of a goof than Cory.

Then the episode abruptly ends.

Maya is the fifteen-year-old daughter of Kermit and Katy. She is Riley Matthews ' best friend. Maya isn't one of the best students in school, but she still looks up to Cory Matthews as a father figure. She is deeply loyal to Riley, as Riley is to her.

Also Christian turned years old today, happy birthday to my co writer. This is Cryptid. An interesting take, Sean. As usual, your writing abilities impress, and once again, I need some more time to articulate my position on Maya Hart. But I do have to add one thing, Maya's artistic ability was actually first revealed in 1. Thanks, I'm actually not super proud of this one, so that makes me feel better. And hey even better!

No one even liked Angela! And the whole Shangela thing was rushed and had no backstory or driving force to it. You are very right. I haven't seen much of Season one, just Girl meet home for the holidays and Mayas birthday episode.

Generations grew up with kids their own age going through the same things in the middle school years. One of those universal experiences is a crush or a first relationship. Lizzie McGuire spent middle school crushing on Ethan Craft, only to realize her best friend might have been the one she really wanted to spend her time with long before Miley Stewart or Riley Matthews landed at the center of love triangles. Not every relationship on the Disney Channel sitcoms were the model of a perfect relationship. In the more than two decades since the programming has amped up, there are bound to be a few missteps.

Girl Meets World has borrowed a ton of story lines from its predecessor, Boy Meets World , but one that's definitely brand new is the love triangle between Riley, Lucas, and Maya that's been raging since season two. Sadly, the love triangle in Girl Meets World has gone on for waaaaaay longer than one episode. But it finally came to an end on last Friday's episode and Lucas finally ended up "choosing" I use that word sooooo loosely — more on that later between Riley and Maya.
